Like most Constituency Parties we
have suffered an overall drop in membership since 1997
and a subsequent drop in funds to fight election campaigns
(since the General Election in May 2010 we have recruited
100 new members, but many of them are young people paying
a very low contribution rate).
We have had to fight the 2010 Parliamentary
General Election on a very uneven playing field. We were
dependent on small donations from individual members and
other organisations. By contrast the Pendle Conservative
party had an income in excess of £99K for the year
2009 (we await with interest the publication of their
2010 accounts).
Pendle Conservative Association online accounts can be
viewed at: http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/party-finance/database-of-registers/statements-of-account.
Simply select the "Great Britain" register -
filter results by "Accounting Unit" and enter
“Pendle (CON)” in the search panel. Currently
their accounts are available for 2007, 2008 and 2009.
It is possible that we could
be faced with another Parliamentary General Election at
any time. It is therefore an issue of urgency that we
start to rebuild our depleted funds. Any help in this
direction will be greatly appreciated.
The ‘200 club’
numbers cost £2 per month.
You can apply for multiple numbers to increase your chance
