In
Pendle we have a major challenge keeping the BNP out
of
power. Currently, the BNP have a stronghold in the ward
of Marsden, where they hold both District Council seats.
Like most Constituency Parties we have suffered a drop in
membership since 1997 and a subsequent drop in funds to
fight election campaigns.
We have had to fight the 2010 Parliamentary
General Election on a very uneven playing field. We
were dependent on small donations from individual members
and other organisations. We believe the Conservative
candidate received considerable external financial support.
Pendle Conservative Association online accounts can be
viewed
at: http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/party-finance/database-of-registers/statements-of-account.
Simply select the "Great Britain" register - filter results
by "Accounting Unit" and enter “Pendle
(CON)” in
the search panel. Currently their accounts are only available
for 2007 and 2008, we await with great interest the publication
of the 2009 and 2010 accounts. The Pendle Conservative
Association "accounting year end" is normally December,
we would therefore expect there 2009 accounts to be online
now (16 May 2010).
It is possible that we could be faced
with another Parliamentary
General Election within a matter of months. It is therfore
an issue of urgency that we start to rebuild our depleted
funds. Any help in this direction will be greatly appreciated.
The ‘200 club’ numbers cost £2
