The Choice for the North
West
The next election will be a big choice about
the change we want for the North West.
Labour offers change for the many - the Conservatives offer change
to benefit the privileged few,
a change you can't afford.
Backing Young Britain
– new apprenticeship places for small
businesses in the North West:
• The North West has won a share of £7m of Government
funding to set up a new Apprenticeship Training Association (ATA).
• The North West Apprenticeship Company will help small
businesses offer up to 1,900 new apprentices over the next three
years.
• Focusing on opportunities for 16 to 18-year-olds the apprenticeships
include: environmental, creative, engineering, manufacturing,
logistics and business administration.
Securing the North West’s
Economic Recovery
- extended scrappage scheme goes live in
the region:
• The North West car industry and consumers have received
a boost this month (October) after the new terms of the Government’s
scrappage scheme went live.
• An extra £100 million brings the schemes budget
to £400 million and will cover about 400,000 vehicles nationwide
in total.
• Van owners looking to trade in their vehicles will now
be able to scrap their eight-year-old van, instead of the previous
10 - year
requirement.
• The £2,000 grant is made up of £1,000 from
government with matched funding from vehicle manufacturers.
• Labour has listened to industry and changes have been
made that will bring even more benefits to consumers.
Building Britain’s
Housing
– North West Kickstart funding:
• The North West has received a £50.4 million Kickstart
funding boost for nearly 1,500 new homes in the region.
• The announcement by Housing Minister John Healey on October
29 is part of the Government’s £1.5bn Housing Pledge.
• Labour’s investment and commitment to bringing forward
the new housing that Britain needs stands in contrast to the Tories.
Building Britain’s Future
- The North West Cycle to Work Guarantee:
• North West employers are being urged to offer staff a
healthy and green way to get to work by backing the Government’s
‘Cycle to Work Guarantee’.
• Launched 28 October, the scheme guarantees staff safe
bike storage, changing facilities and access to the Government’s
tax
break scheme for new bikes and cycling equipment.

of the region the benefits of cycling to work. http://www.dft.gov.uk/cyclingengland/cycling-cities-towns/
